So if you have 40mm balls, and OverSize rackets, you should get an oversized table........Just kidding, the size of the table hasn't changed! However, to really appreciate the way a ball bounces, there is a difference between most your average basement table and a tournament grade table!
Here's some guidelines when looking for a table:
The thicker the top......the better the bounce. It's a livelier, true bounce, with greater consistency. If you can't tell the difference between a bounce on a 1" top vs a 3/4" top (and money is no object), get a 1" top. Someday in the future you'll thank yourself! - If you have to move the table, get a fold up or rollaway table with casters. - If you have the luxury of not having to move the table, a basic four-post leg design has less moving parts, and greater stability. - Buy the most expensive table you can afford. You get a thicker top, livelier bounce, better surface finish, more stable framework for support. -Avoid 5/8" and 1/2" tops. The ball just doesn't bounce the same!
